About Clapton E5

Clapton E5 is an area in East London. The name means “farm on the hill”. It is derived from the word clop in Old English, which means “hill” or “lump”. Historically, it was a hamlet. The place is known for the Church of the Good Shepherd – an unusual church which was used by the Ancient Catholic Church. There are a few parks and open spaces in Clapton, plus a few Grade II listed houses. For instance, there is Springfield Park. It was launched in 1905. It accommodates a cricket pitch, tennis courts, rugby fields, football pitches and a mansion. In 2008, it received a Green Flag award.
